Leicester City Council (LCC) has 2 hostels offering temporary emergency accommodation plus dormitory accomodation.
The council operates a No Second Night Out policy so will endeavour to make sure that you are accommodated if you are sleeping rough for the first time.
To be provided with temporary accommodation by LCC after they have made a decision on your homeless declaration you will need a local connection (unless fleeing violence).
In the Dawn Centre there is an emergency dormitory for if you are rough sleeping, become homeless outside of Housing Options hours or awaiting the decision on your homeless declaration.
The council has a duty by law to carry out a Homeless Declaration for anyone that presents homeless and must carry out a thorough investigation to determine if you are entitled to be housed. This should not be done by just an interview at housing options. A full investigation must be carried out and while the investigation is on-going the council have a duty by law to put you into temporary accommodation.
No automatic exclusions, Applications considered on a case by case basis.
