Give Leicester offers you a new way of donating money to help homeless people in Leicester.

As we become an increasingly cashless society, Give Leicester provides a way for people to support the homeless when they feel compelled. By donating money through Give Leicester points, you can be sure your money is going directly to charities committed to helping people who are homeless.

You’ll find Give Leicester donation points located in the windows of businesses in Leicester. Simply tap your contactless card to make a secure donation of £3.

From October 2019 to March 2020 your money will go directly to The Bridge Homelessness to Hope, helping to provide additional emergency accommodation, food and support during the coldest months of the year.

BID Leicester and Leicester City Council cover all transaction fees, ensuring that 100% of your money goes to helping those in need. Give Leicester is funded by BID Leicester and Leicester City Council, and delivered in partnership with the Leicester Homelessness Charter.

What is Give Leicester?

Give Leicester is a project set up by BID Leicester and Leicester City Council, working in partnership with Leicester Homelessness Charter. It is designed to help make helping people who are homeless easy and secure by enabling donation direct to charities through contactless giving points.

Where does my donation go?

Every single penny of your £3 donation will go to a charity in the city working to provide support for people who are homeless. From October 2019 to March 2020, your donation will go to the The Bridge Homelessness to Hope.

In future the charity that donations are paid to to may change. When this happens, the text on donation points will be updated with new information, so you always know where your money is going before you donate.

BID Leicester and Leicester City Council cover all transaction fees and operational costs, including installing giving points and all marketing and promotion of the scheme, meaning that 100% of your donation goes to the chosen charity.

Can I host a unit?

We are currently looking for venues to host giving points so we can get to our planned 16 locations. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, please drop us a line and we can talk you through the process to see if it’s a good fit for you.

How do I know it’s safe?

Contactless is one of the safest ways to give. The donation points are locked to the chosen charity’s bank account, meaning that your money can’t be diverted.

Like a contactless payment you would make in a shop, each transaction is encrypted by third-parties on the spot, so we capture no personal data and your card details are kept safe.

The technology is provided by our partner GoodBox.

Can I get a refund or receipt?

Sure, email info@bidleicester.co.uk if you need us to issue a refund or you’d like a receipt.
